چکیده

Results A total of 49 cases fit the inclusion criteria. Most were male (90%), with a median (IQR) age of 42.6 (39-46.7) years-old. Eighteen (36.7%) were or had been chronic infected by HCV. Among HBsAg+ patients, 19 (41.3%) were HBeAg+ and 13 (26.5%) were superinfected by the hepatitis delta virus (HDV). No differences were found in the distribution of CC genotypes when comparing patients with chronic hepatitis B and those who spontaneously cleared HBsAg (59.2% vs 44.9%, respectively; p=0.3). Conclusions There is no evidence for a beneficial role of the IL-28B CC genotype on the development of chronic hepatitis B in HIV-coinfected patients.

بررسی ارتباط پلی‌مورفیسم (rs1800872A/C) ژن اینترلوکین 10 با ابتلا به عفونت مزمن هپاتیت B

Background and Aim: Cytokines are believed to play an important role in the regulation of cellular immune response in hepatitis B virus infection. Interleukin 10 is a member of cytokine family. The overall expression of these molecules is mainly controlled by single nucleotide polymorphisms at specific sites on the promoter region of the Interleukin 10 gene. The aim of this study was to a...

Association of IL28B Polymorphisms With the Response to Peginterferon Plus Ribavirin Combined Therapy in Polish Patients Infected With HCV Genotype 1 and 4

BACKGROUND Three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) near interleukin-28B (IL-28B) gene were shown to be highly associated with treatment response (SVR) in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. There is limited data about the role of single and combined IL-28B polymorphisms in HCV-infected Polish population. OBJECTIVES This study's aim was to determine predictability of ...

Influence of Vitamin D Receptor Gene Polymorphisms on Response to Pegylated Interferon in Chronic Hepatitis B Egyptian Patients

Background: We explored the effect of vitamin D receptor gene (VDR) polymorphisms in response to PEG-IFN treatment in Egyptian chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. Methods: Two hundred hepatitis B virus (HBV) patients (42.3±10.7 years) on PEG-IFN α-2a (180 μg /kg for 48 weeks) and one hundred control subjects (37.3 ±12 years) were enrolled in the study. Vitamin D levels a...

The Impact of Interferon Lambda 3 Gene Polymorphism on Natural Course and Treatment of Hepatitis C

Host genetic factors may predict the outcome and treatment response in hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Very recently, three landmark genome-wide association studies identified single nucleotide polymorphisms near the interleukin 28B (IL28B) region which were more frequent in responders to treatment. IL28B encodes interferon (IFN)λ3, a type III IFN involved in host antiviral immunity. Favoura...

Interleukin-28B genotyping by melt-mismatch amplification mutation assay PCR analysis using single nucleotide polymorphisms rs12979860 and rs8099917, a useful tool for prediction of therapy response in hepatitis C patients.

Several studies have identified associations between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) occurring near the interleukin-28B (IL-28B) gene and response to antiviral treatment among hepatitis C virus (HCV) patients. Here, we describe a reliable melt-mismatch amplification mutation assay (melt-MAMA) PCR-based genotyping method for IL-28B which can be used in the management of HCV patients, help...
